Why we love to change the dress.

I Mondo Kaos we love to turn around the dress because it is a versatile dress that can be worn by everyone
occasions, and because its closure is adjustable, which means that it always fits perfectly. In addition, the wrap dress is designed to highlight the feminine shapes, by i.a. to define the waist with the tie and create the silhouette with the V-shaped neckline. For many women, the dress is a "go to" dress, and in our opinion should be a part of all women's wardrobe.

Turn on the history of the dress.

The wrap dress was made iconic by designer Diane von Fürstenberg in the 70s, where it became a symbol of the women's movement, but the first wrap dresses saw the light of day back in the 1930s. In fact, the famous designer Elsa Schiaparelli made a wrap dress in 1930, which she called an 'apron wrap dress', an effective work dress because the front of the dress could be folded over each other on both sides and thus served as a kind of apron. This meant that it could be quickly tied up and about when it got dirty in front, so the clean side was now in the front. In 1942, American fashion designer Claire McCardell created the 'pop-over' design that became the basis for several types of wrap dresses. Fashion magazine Harper's Bazaar had created a design competition that aimed to “create something fashionable that can be worn while cleaning the house, and at the same time can also be worn to a cocktail party.” During the war, women had been given new and practical tasks and fewer funds to do well with, and therefore one had to be creative when one wanted to be fashionable. For this, the dress was perfect: it was simple to put on, good to move in, very useful, and then it had a nice, feminine cut that highlighted the shapes.MCCardell won the competition and later she also won a design award for the 'pop-over' dress.
The wrap dress has been a part of women's wardrobes since the 1930s, due to its many uses and good cuts. Today, the wrap around dress is still a popular dress model that is made in many different types, colors and prints.

Turn over dresses at Mondo Kaos.

Since the wrap dress is a classic, most brands have a wrap dress in their collection but we want to highlight our wrap dresses from Seamstress Of Bloomsbury. We have had this dress in our range for many years and we always have a good selection in stock in different colors and prints. The dress is made of the natural Rayon material which is incredibly light, and it is therefore a perfect dress to take with you in the suitcase when you go on holiday, as it hardly fills anything, and it is nice to wear on even hot days .

Styling of your wrap dress.

As mentioned, the wrap dress is one of the most useful types of dresses, and it can therefore be styled in a myriad of ways, so you can create the perfect look for the occasion you want to use the dress for. Turn on the dress can easily be used in a more modern look, but you can also style it in 40er, 50er og 60er the style.
For everyday and work, you can wear the dress with a classic wool cardigan from Emmy Design and a pair of retro lace-up shoes from Nordic ShoePeople for a cute, feminine look.  For more festive occasions, you can use it as a cocktail dress and create a charming retro look with socks with seams from What Katie Did, as well as shoes or boots with heels from Miss L'Fire.
