Body type Guide: Clothes & dresses for the A figure at Mondo Kaos

The A-figure is characterized by wearing feminine curves under the body.

This type includes narrow shoulders, slim upper body with a narrow waist, round buttocks and slightly stronger, female thighs. In relation to your goals, you are wider over your hips than your shoulders. Your absolute force is your narrow, feminine waist. Most women dream of this benefit, so highlight it on any given occasion.

Do you want to balance the relationship between the hips and shoulders, and maybe lengthen the legs? This is how you can focus on your slim and beautiful upper body.

Then you need to highlight your upper body, and use our tips to make your upper body be more in balance with your hips.

Use i.a. bright colors and prints to highlight your upper body, and more muted colors on your lower body. Feel free to wear tops and dresses with puff sleeves which give you a little more width at the shoulders.

Tops for the A-Figure

You need to create volume on the upper body, and you do this with the advantage of tops and shirts with Puf sleeves that make your shoulders appear wider. You can easily use looser tops and shirts as long as they are marked at the waist, or put down in trousers / skirts that are cut at the waist.  Eg. the Estelle shirt is fantastic for the A-Figure. Feel free to use light colors and prints to highlight your upper body, and more muted colors on your lower body.

Tops with a boat neckline and off shoulder blouses, which give the illusion of wider shoulders, and thus give the expression of an hourglass figure, are also good for the A-Figure. For example, the Estelle shirt with its pouf sleeves and a slack in the neck is fantastic for the A-Figure. Feel free to use light colors and prints to highlight your upper body, and more muted colors on your lower body. An A-line skirt or mini skirt that goes out easily is great for the A-Figure. Or wide pants a la our Sailor pants or Swing pants, both of which beautifully balance the hips.

Trousers and jeans for the A-Figure

Go for pants with a high waist. They reach all the way up over your hips and buttocks, and fit nicely into your body.
Straight leg pants are super dressy as the wide legs make your hips appear narrower as they create the illusion that the bottom of your legs are as wide as your hips.
You should definitely avoid low waist pants as they will cut the wrong place for your figure.

Skirts for the A-Figure

Skirts as well as dresses are generally most dressable for the A-figure.

Go for "smooth" skirts such as A-line cuts that do not provide extra fullness around the hips. Avoid folds.

Dresses for the A-Figure

Here you need to combine the best from the top with the best from the bottom.

A classic A-line dress like our Ava Dress from The House Of Foxy is great as it focuses on the waist and at the same time gives the puff sleeves giving you a little extra width at the shoulders. At the same time, the A-shape is perfect for not making hips / thighs look bigger than they are.

You should generally go for a dress that makes your shoulders look more, while at the same time the bottom of your dress should have width (though not pleats) so that it camouflages your hips.

For the A-Figure, it is nice to have a marked waist, as it will help to emphasize the narrowest place on your body.
